What Does the Top 1% Nationwide Mean?

Iowa Tests Of Basic Skills (ITBS)

The Iowa Tests of Basics Skills (ITBS) are standardized tests for grade school students that measure their achievement in reading, language, math, science, social studies, and sources of information (navigating through reference materials). Although it was developed in Iowa, thousands of schools nationwide participate and are ranked according to their cumulative results.

Kids Connection students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades take these tests for one week in May. KC students are well prepared for the ITBS because of the strong academic curriculum they have enjoyed since kindergarten. Therefore, there’s no reason for students to have testing anxiety. Kids Connection is very proud to consistently rank in the 99th percentile (the top 1%) of all schools participating nationwide. During the fall, after taking the test, each KC student who participated receives a complete report of his/her performance on the test.

Our participation in the ITBS is a very important school event. Therefore, we ask that families of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders not plan any absences during the week of ITBS testing.
