Kids Connection Sanitizing Cleaning Procedures
Dear KC Families,
As we continue to be able to expand the in-school offerings we wanted to let you know about what we are doing to keep the school clean. We take the safety of our students, their families, and our staff extremely seriously. My children go to school here too, so it is personal for me as well, and I understand the responsibility you put on us to make school as safe as possible for your child. During this period, we have significantly increased the methods and frequency of the cleaning that happens on campus. These processes FAR exceed the recommendations of the health department and CDC. Our commitment to these will continue while we are fighting COVID-19 and beyond.
We have contracted with John Watt from BioClean, a division of Good Housekeeping, Inc., which specializes in eliminating contaminants such as viruses, bacterias of all kinds, allergens, etc. using broad spectrum disinfectant currently known to work not only on hard surfaces but also on porous materials such as chairs, drapes, carpet, clothing, etc. They will provide the following sanitizing cleans for us regularly. These processes are not required by the local health department, but we feel that it is a proactive step to ensure that the schools are as clean as possible.
- SURFACE DISINFECTION – Their broad-spectrum disinfection solution is applied to all of our surfaces with an electrostatic spray system for the most thorough coverage. Their system is laboratory tested effective at killing the most difficult bacteria, virus, and other known strains of the Coronavirus when properly applied. Additionally, their solution will also penetrate and destroy biofilm that bacteria and mold form as a defense mechanism. Their process is highly effective on porous and non-porous materials. This process is happening every weekend.
- PROTECTIVE SURFACE SHIELD – Long lasting Antimicrobial Shield Gives Continuous Protection 24/7. After sanitization, their Antimicrobial Protective Shield is applied to EVERY surface. This long-lasting antimicrobial shield is applied with their electrostatic spray system which gives the treated surface the ability to continuously kill germs as they are deposited onto a surface! The antimicrobial shield is also applied to, and effective on carpet, upholstery, desks and counters, paper, and any other surfaces. When any other brand disinfectant is applied and then dry, they immediately stop disinfecting. Good housekeeping’s Protective Surface Shield continues to work for you after dry for up to 3 months. To be extra careful, we are having this applied every month while we fight COVID-19.
- AIR PURIFICATION – To continuously clean the air they have installed Air Fresh Packs throughout the schools. These packets use the moisture in the air to release a slight amount of disinfectant into the air to help keep the air germ and allergen free.
- SAFETY – The sanitizing solutions they apply are completely safe for people, pets, food, and the environment. They do not poison molecules but physically kills them by oxidation. Their solution is registered by the FDA to be used on meat and produce as a rinse before packaging. It is also found in some mouthwash and toothpastes for safe disinfection. Some grocery stores use this solution in the automatic water misting system over the produce section to kill bacteria and fungus which will extend the shelf life of the produce. Our disinfectant is so safe, you could wash your face and hands with it.
Additionally, every night our amazing janitorial staff comes in to do full cleans of the schools. We have contracted with them to do more than their typical thorough cleaning processes. They are doing longer desanitizing procedures on the floors and high-touch areas, among other things. Many of these processes are what the health authorities would recommend for schools in the event of a COVID-19 case. But to be proactive we do it nightly. Their commitment to keeping the schools safe has never wavered through this process. They appreciate the crucial role in our students’ safety, and they take it extremely seriously. Mike Leonardini, the head of our janitorial team, is on campus daily checking in with our staff on any special cleaning or maintenance needs, checking supply levels, and doing everything we need to keep the school moving forward safely.
During the day our staff are doing wipe downs on the common spaces such as the play structures and bathrooms, as well as increased cleanings in the classrooms and other areas of the schools. They have been, and will continue to, put an increased curriculum focus on handwashing and good hygiene with our students.
In addition to all of the above, we are also following all health department guidance for staff and student safety. This currently includes lower child group sizes, staff wearing masks, temperature and health checks for staff and students, limiting foot traffic into the schools, etc. We will continue to follow the health department and licensing guidance in these areas as we go forward. We hope that this helps assure you of our commitment to safety and cleanliness at Kids Connection.
Sincerely,
Mary DeLong
